This year we decided to try our hand at backyard chicken farming. So far it has been very fun. We bought a ready built coop. We wanted to build our own, but due to some health issues and the price of this pre-built coop, we could not pass it up. IFA was discontinuing them, so we snagged the last one. It was already put together, can't beat that. Especially since my husband still is not allowed to lift anything.
We bought four chickens, they are all different breeds. We picked them by the color of eggs they lay. They are so fun to watch as they run around the yard digging for bugs and chasing each other all day. The dogs and cats are well aware that these are "my pets" and pretty much leave them alone.
